Whatcha Say......................

This is a good song. The song written by Jason DeRulo Kisean Anderson, and Jonathon Rotem. Produced by J.R.Rotem.

Jason DeRulo is a confident new talent.  In the more emotional sections of this musical plea for reconciliation, DeRulo spits out the words with a spirit appropriate for the moment. He pledges paradise when he becomes a star, and it looks like that time may be coming sooner instead of later. He has a significantly more vocal talent than is put to you use on "Whatcha Say".

The song was released as the second single of Jay-z's eleventh studio album Blueprint 3. The song features Rihanna and Kanye West.It is Jay-z's first number one in UK as the lead artist. It was also featured in the trailer for the film Brooklyn's Finest and 24 Season Promo. The won a People's choice award in January 2010 for Favorite Music Collaboration. The song also served as an introduction for Super Bowl XLIV. The song also won two Grammy Awards for the Best Rap Song and Best Rap/Sung Collaboration making this Jay-z's tenth, Kanye West's fourteenth, and Rihanna's third Grammy Award overall.

I personally would definitely give this single 4 stars. A hot beat, great hook, and although Kanye's verse is better than Jay-Z's. They all were good.

I got a feeling that the song is a great song. There's many reasons to support my opinion. One is that the song is very easy to listen to, the lyric actually make sense, and another one is the beat is something fun and easy to hum or sing. The song is truly truth. It will give you fresh feelings and really trust me you will forget all your stresses. The lyric is so refreshing and enchanting. It will help you get through you day and  will make you feel better. Enjoy your life, the days and nights. So let's get off and live it up with the song!

Owl city has released some awesome songs before but the "Firefly" is definitely one of the very best. The track is raising up music chart all over the world. The music video has been played millions of times on youtube and the Firefly's ringtone is currently the most popular ringtone in America. The music has already included in the Billboard Hot 100 and Canadian hot 100 in North America. The Firefly MP3 is the most popular download in North America right now. This is the awesome new single. I personally like this so much. The lyric is so touchy. I basically like the vocal and music. In one word it's awesome.

There is a mixed opinion about Jya-Z's Blueprint 3 album but it's true that the "Empire State of Mind" has got the tremendous success. Alicia brings the fire on the hook and the bridge. No doubt this is one of the Jay's best songs, lyrically tight, passionate love song featuring NYC. This is a great track but Jay-z's beats and rhymes never got me excited a lot, there's nothing different here except that Alicia has absolutely nailed  the chorus. She has really took this song to another level. She is perfect for it. The chorus is flat out amazing. The song is a classic. This is one of my favorite songs from BP3. Overall one of my favorite tracks from jay-z. EVER.So go listen!

The 2010 will most likely be the landmark for music charts world wide. Specially because of the FIFA World Cup South Africa, many singers have released songs specially for the world cup crowd. The year 2010 has already experienced the massive smash hits which the world has never seen before. The top songs 2010 will most likely come from the new artists with innovative new kind of musics. New singers are experimenting different types of songs, language, rhythm, musics to grab the attention of the mass population, young gen and battling out to get the top place on the list. So be prepared for the top songs of 2010.

Though the song became astonishingly popular but honestly the music video applies bad influence to young children and teenagers. She looks like a crack addict. I like the beat of the song, imagine the world living the way she did in the music video. However, even if you don't like it, you will find yourself humming with it. That's the beauty and uniqueness of this song.

The Latina singing sensation Shakira sang the official FIFA World cup theme song "Waka Waka". The songs was tribute to the African people. The chorus of Waka Waka lyric was written in Fang and Cameroonian language. The word Waka Waka means "do it"as in a task. Shakira's performance was a great way to kick the multicultural world cup tournament. This is a nice song with beautiful lyric and rhythmic music.

The "Waka Waka" lyric:

You're a good soldier
Choosing your battles
Pick yourself up
And dust yourself off
And back in the saddle

You're on the frontline
Everyone's watching
You know it's serious
We're getting closer
This isnt over

The pressure is on
You feel it
But you've got it all
Believe it

When you fall get up
Oh oh...
And if you fall get up
Oh oh...

Tsamina mina
Zangalewa
Cuz this is Africa

Tsamina mina eh eh
Waka Waka eh eh

Tsamina mina zangalewa
Anawa aa
This time for Africa

Listen to your god

This is our motto
Your time to shine
Dont wait in line
Y vamos por Todo

People are raising
Their Expectations
Go on and feed them
This is your moment
No hesitations

Today's your day
I feel it
You paved the way
Believe it

If you get down
Get up Oh oh...
When you get down
Get up eh eh...

Tsamina mina zangalewa
Anawa aa
This time for Africa

Tsamina mina eh eh
Waka Waka eh eh

Tsamina mina zangalewa
Anawa aa

Tsamina mina eh eh
Waka Waka eh eh
Tsamina mina zangalewa
This time for Africa

The "I wanna love you" star Akon also created a theme song for FIFA world cup. Its also a very nice song and become very popular around the world, not only among the Akon fan but also among the all songs lovers. The song title is "Oh Africa".

“I’m going to South Africa for a meeting about the 2010 World Cup. I’m the official music coordinator. It means I’ll produce the official World Cup song and I’ll oversee all the official music,” the R&B singer revealed in an interview with The London Paper this week.

He also said,

“If David Beckham said he wanted to contribute musically, I’d advise him not to. He’d definitely be better off playing. It doesn’t work when athletes try to become musicians.”

"Oh Africa" lyric:

"Oh Africa"

(with Keri Hilson)

Oh Africa...

I know that we have to take it to the goal 'cause everyone's depending on we

See we ain't got nowhere to go but up, it's our destiny

We're choosing the way, we'll do what it takes to get to the top of the highest mountain

We'll do anything, we got to prove ourselves 'cause we know

Oh Africa...

See we'll never be able to forget this day 'cause it's the greatest day of our life

See no matter what happens at least we can say "we came, we saw, we tried"

We're choosing nowhere, we'll do what it takes to get to the top of the highest mountain

We'll do anything, we got to prove ourselves 'cause we know

Oh Africa...

This is our time to shine, our time to fly, our time to be inside the sky

Our time to soar, our time to saw, the last one in football

Oh Africa...

Another awesome world cup anthem has created by K'naan and sang by K'naan and Devid Bisbal, the "Waving Flag". The Arabic version of this song is also available on youtube.

"Waving flag'' lyric:

When I get older, I will be stronger

They’ll call me freedom, just like a Waving Flag

When I get older, I will be stronger

They’ll call me freedom, just like a Waving Flag

And then it goes back, and then it goes back

And then it goes back

Born to a throne, stronger than Rome

But Violent prone, poor people zone

But it’s my home, all I have known

Where I got grown, streets we would roam

But out of the darkness, I came the farthest

Among the hardest survival

Learn from these streets, it can be bleak

Except no defeat, surrender retreat

So we struggling, fighting to eat and

We wondering when we’ll be free

So we patiently wait, for that fateful day

It’s not far away, so for now we say

When I get older, I will be stronger

They’ll call me freedom, just like a Waving Flag

And then it goes back, and then it goes back

And then it goes back

So many wars, settling scores

Bringing us promises, leaving us poor

I heard them say, love is the way

Love is the answer, that’s what they say,

But look how they treat us, make us believers

We fight their battles, then they deceive us

Try to control us, they couldn’t hold us

Cause we just move forward like Buffalo Soldiers

But we struggling, fighting to eat

And we wondering, when we’ll be free

So we patiently wait, for that faithful day

It’s not far away, but for now we say

When I get older, I will be stronger

They’ll call me freedom, just like a Waving Flag

And then it goes back, and then it goes back

And then it goes back

When I get older, I will be stronger

They’ll call me freedom, just like a Waving Flag

And then it goes back, and then it goes back

And then it goes back

(Ohhhh Ohhhh Ohhhhh Ohhhh)

And everybody will be singing it

(Ohhhh Ohhhh Ohhhhh Ohhhh)

And you and I will be singing it

(Ohhhh Ohhhh Ohhhhh Ohhhh)

And we all will be singing it

(Ohhh Ohh Ohh Ohh)

When I get older, I will be stronger

They’ll call me freedom, just like a Waving Flag

And then it goes back, and then it goes back

And then it goes back

When I get older, I will be stronger
They’ll call me freedom, just like a Waving Flag

And then it goes back, and then it goes back

And then it goes back

When I get older, when I get older

I will be stronger, just like a Waving Flag

Just like a Waving Flag, just like a Waving flag

Flag, flag, Just like a Waving Flag.

Souls is the pop band which was formed in Chittagong and later moved to Dhaka, the capital city of Bangladesh.Former member include Tapon Chowdhury (still a renowned singer of the country), Ayub Bachchu (founder of LRB), Nakib Khan (renaissance), Nassem Ali and Partho jinia. It has performed more than 4000 concerts all over Bangladesh and also abroad and is one os the oldest pop bands in Bangladesh. Their first album was released in 1982 and in 1989 they released their 5th album. And almost every year they release new album. The name of their other albums are:
  • Rupar Chok
  • Rupa Tomar Jonno
  • East and West
  • A Amon Porichoy
  • Aj Din Katuk Gaane
  • Ashomoyer Gaan

  • To-Let
  • Jut Jamela
We can see a lot of changes in the line up of the band. Their first line up was - Sajed and Lulu on guitar, Newaz on percussion, Roni on drums and Tajul on vocal. During 1972 the founder member Lulu left the band and Nakib khan joined the band to fill the void followed by Pilu Khan and Tapan Chowdhury. Nasim Ali and Ayub Bachchu also joined the band during 1977-78 time period while they started to write and compose their own songs beside performing the cover songs of famous western bands in hotels. The arrival of both Nasim Ali and Ayub Bachchu gave the band its legendary line up.

After the release their second album, Nakib Khan and Pilu Khan left the band and formed their very own band group Renaissance later on which is the another popular band in Bangladesh. After the release of the 5th album "E Emon Porichoy" Tapon left the band in 1989 and start his solo career. To filll the void Partho Borua joined the band as a lead singer. Soon Ayub Bachchu also left the band and formed his own band Little River Band (later renamed Love Runs Blind) or popularly known as LRB. So Souls is considered as the root of the two mostly popular band Renaissance and LRB.

The current line-up of the band is:
  • Nasim Ali Khan (lead vocal)
  • Partho Borua (lead guitar and lead vocal)
  • Rana Vai (bass)
  • Masum (keyboard)

Band review #1: Miles

Miles, Bangladesh
Miles:
Miles is the well known name in Bangladeshi Band music arena. It is one of the most popular band in Bangladesh and can be described as a popular rock band. They started out by singing in one of the posh hotel in the country. They did live shows and were quite satisfied to perform in front of a selected group of people. But it was until they brought out with original songs and album. The album got the remarkable success that after that they have really gone miles of their journey and seems like unstoppable.

Band Line-up:
Miles was formed in 1979 by Farid Rashid, Kamal, Ishtiaq, Larry, Musa and Robin in Dhaka. The two gifted brother Hamin Ahmed and Shafin Ahmed joined a couple of months later in the same year as guitarist and vocalist. In 1982 Manam Ahmed became the part of the band as an ace keyboard player.

Miles describe themselves as a pop/rock band. "We have been inspired by blues, Latin, jazz, rock and techno music" says Manam Ahmed. "so our music is a combination of varied sounds and styles."

"Protisruti" was the first Bangla album of miles released in 1991. The young lovers all over the country were singing the catchy number "Chand tara" as soon as the album was out. The band's forth album, second in Bangla "Prottasha" came out in 1993 got the phenomenal success in the history of the band music. "Prottasha" is still one of the best selling album in the country.

Here are some links of songs by Miles. Hope you'll like it.

The first Bangladeshi band was formed in 1960s. The band music become popular with the formation of a Chittagong based band Zinga Goshty (source: wikipedia). After liberation war many band was formed and some are still so popular among the young generation with their original lyric. At that time most of the most of the bands focused on playing English songs but after 1980s this trend changed and they started to sing original bangle songs. Souls, Feedback, Miles, Renaissance were the most popular band groups of the 1980s and early 1990s.

Souls - The Bangla Band

In the 1990s, the band music overcame all the obstacles and became the craze among the teens. I can still remember some music that I heard to play my uncle all day long and still youngsters of my age love these songs. In the early 1990s some quality bands came to the light like LRB,Warfaze, Winning, Chime, Different Touch, Obscure, Nova, Vikings, Ark, Feelings/Nagorboul,, Promethoous etc. Some of them are still considered as the top band groups in Bangladesh.

Today the sense is vibrating with the new names Black, Arthohin, Artcell, Bangla, Dolchhut, Old school, Shunno, Aftermath, AOD(Act of Defiance), Kaalpurush, Silent Prayer, Hemorrhage, Yaatri, Shironaamhin, Dhaka, Fossil, Krosswinds, crypticfate, Shaptak, Vibe, Shadhinota, Poizon Green, Kronic, Acoustic Vagabond, Bongo Reggae, Rusho, Canopy, Bidrohi, Shomoy, etc.

Artcell and Black are the first Alternative Progressive rock and Alternative rock bands of Bangladesh while Arthohin is popular for Heavy metal music. In the early 1990s songs they used guitar, violins specially LRB. In many LRB songs I saw the use of violin.

Now I can say that band music is the most popular music category in Bangladesh not only among teens but also among young adults. There are lots of underground band groups who are specially perform in many hotels, University, clubs around the country. Even in every educational institute whether it is collage or university, there are at least 1 band group who perform in many cultural evenings. Most of these bands are influenced more by American Thrash/Heavy/Progressive/Death Metal music than new wave of British Heavy Metal music.
